Who We Are
Mr. MikeMr. Mike is the eldest of eight children, and is a naturally nurturing person. He had been in the trades his entire life, owning a carpentry business, until Miss Essy convinced him that he would enjoy caring for children even more than he enjoyed carpentry. For approximately 6 years, he was also a very valued employee of the Society for Handicapped Citizens, as a direct care staff in their group homes. He will not hesitate to tell you that childcare was the best career move he could have made. He loves his position feeding the children, setting up cots, and generally being the “brawn” of the daycare.

Miss Essy (Ester)Miss Essy was born and raised in Medina. The seventh of ten children, she began her career working at a local bank for 20 years. Although she enjoyed her career, after volunteering with children through activities such as Sunday school and the Berea Children's Home, she realized her passion was caring for children. Several years after pursuing her dream of opening a home daycare, she and her husband, Mr. Mike, were blessed to have two children of their own. Esther will be the first to tell you that the saying, “time flies when you are having fun”, has certainly been true in her life, as the last twenty years of caring for children in her home have simply flown by!

Miss SandyMiss Sandy is the fourth of ten children, and is Miss Essy’s sister. Sandy’s first position after high school was working for a commercial daycare. Searching for a position that would afford more advancement and benefits (but not as much fun!) she finished her career with a 34 year employment with Medina General Hospital. Now enjoying retirement from the hospital, she helps Miss Essy and Mr. Mike during naptime and covers for any appointments that would require Miss Essy or Mr. Mike being away from the daycare.
